LEGO Robotics STEM Workshop

Young Innovators Build, Learn, and Explore in Howard County

Event Overview

On Saturday, February 21, young learners and their families gathered at the Owen Brown Community Center in Columbia, Maryland for an afternoon of creativity, engineering, and hands-on STEM learning.

Hosted by The Common Thread Foundation, the LEGO Robotics STEM Workshop introduced students to robotics, problem-solving, and teamwork through interactive building activities.

Powered by the Howard County YEP Grant

This program was made possible through the Howard County Youth Engagement Programming (YEP) Grant, which supports initiatives that expand access to educational opportunities for young people across the county.

With support from the YEP Grant, the Common Thread Foundation partnered with Maslow’s Loom Corporation to bring this hands-on STEM experience to local students.

Hands-On STEM Learning

  • Design and construct robotic builds
  • Experiment with engineering concepts
  • Test and refine creations
  • Collaborate with peers and family members

Community Partnership

The event was hosted at the Owen Brown Community Association Community Center.

Looking Ahead

The Common Thread Foundation and Maslow’s Loom Corporation look forward to delivering additional STEM workshops later this year.
